DIY birthday present for mom
Most of all bouquets and money of the world, mothers value gifts made by themselves. After all, crafts always carry a piece of the soul and love that you invest in them. But you want the surprise for the closest person in the world to be still beautiful and useful. We offer 8 interesting ideas for the birthday of your beloved mother!
1. Candy Cake
For a beautiful and neat candy cake, you need any long oblong candies. Cut out the cardboard base-circle and expose the sides vertically. Connect them together with a thin tape or bind with tape, like a basket. If you have a thick sheet of polystyrene foam, carefully cut the base out of it - so gluing the sides is even easier.
The inside of the cake can be filled with smaller candies, colored candies or dragees, small cookies or nuts with condensed milk. You can make a cake box with a lid or even combine several tiers on the same principle. For decoration, flowers, small souvenirs, ribbons, beads and lace are suitable. An original DIY birthday present for mom is ready!
2. Patchwork style cosmetic bag
If you have left a lot of unnecessary scraps of fabric from your crafts and creativity, then you can easily make an effective cosmetic bag for a gift from your mom. The difference from ordinary fabric is that first you need to sew the fabric itself. Lay out a beautiful collage from the scraps and gradually sew them together. Sew the edges of the seams with zigzag or overcast by hand.
When you finish, transfer the pattern of the future cosmetic bag, leaving allowances for the seams. The easiest way is to make a regular rectangular one, but you can experiment with shapes and volume. Sew another one of the same blanks from ordinary lining or synthetic fabric and put it inside.
3. Quilling painting
Bright, colorful and spectacular paintings can be made from plain colored paper. Just choose double-sided sheets denser, so that the colors are juicy and uniform. Draw or transfer a future drawing - a basket of flowers, a garden of paradise, a wonderful bird or a cosmic landscape.
To make rolls, wind a narrow and long strip of paper onto a thin pencil or rod, hold it and let it bloom. After that, glue the end of the roll and start forming the element manually. For example, to make a drop, squeeze a loose spiral on one side and slightly stretch it.
4. Casket out of the box
Paste the old shoe box with pieces of wallpaper, fabric, wrapping paper or just beautiful napkins. Cut out the dividers from the cardboard, paste them too and put them inside - these will be sections for different little things. Decorate the casket outside with applique, flowers, beads, accessories and ribbons.
At will you can make additional drawers from matchboxes or inserts for bracelets from cardboard cylinders. To keep the hinged lid, as in real boxes, fasten it with a suitable color tape. From the same tape you can make a tie or glue a “lock” of thin rubber and a large bead.
5. Photo frame
To make a beautiful and spectacular photo frame, you just need a sheet of thick cardboard or an old box of equipment. For a simple rectangular frame, cut out two rectangles: solid for the back wall and with a hole for the front. Then everything is in your hands: add a leg or a loop, make several holes for a photo collage, experiment with shapes and volume.
To make a cozy three-dimensional fabric frame, you need a thin layer of filler and a beautiful bright fabric for lining. Buttons, beads, rhinestones, sequins, shells, coffee beans or colored pasta are perfect for decorating. Decorate the frame with ribbons, appliqués, colorful stickers or eggshells. We think that your mother will be happy with such a gift!
6. Volumetric postcard
A voluminous birthday card is always more spectacular than a usual one and much more interesting than a simple application. You will need at least two sheets of thick paper and different decorations. It is best in this form to open hearts, butterflies and bouquets - everything where you can beat the effect of the book.
To make the simplest but most spectacular bouquet, cut out seven identical flowers with six petals each. Mark all the petals in folds so that the card closes. Color, draw the middle, add sparkles and other decorations and paste the bouquet into the base book, starting with the central flower.
7. Charming mini notebook
Another original idea of a DIY birthday gift for mom is a cute mini-notebook, which is suitable for small notes, notes, wishes or just as a keychain. To do this, cut a sheet of paper into small 4x5 cm rectangles and fold each of them in half. For the cover, cut a cardboard measuring 5x8.5 cm and mark in the middle the future spine 0.5 cm wide.
To make the cardboard bend well according to the markup, several times walk along it under the ruler with a non-writing pen or the tip of a nail file. Color the cover and decorate it with drawings, applique or other little things. If you want to make a keychain, pierce a small hole, stepping back from the edge, and insert a ring.
Fold all the pages in half and hold them with a paper clip, and then fasten them on the other side with a stapler or just a staple. Glue a stack of pages into the cover, pressing well along the entire length. To neatly arrange the joints, paste them on one separate leaflet or cover with tape.
8. Decoupage kitchen jars
Take the old jars of yogurt or blanks, and wash them well so that there are no stains and smell. You can get rid of it with a slice of lemon, its own peel or a bag of citric acid. Before decorating a jar, degrease it - wipe the surface with alcohol or nail polish remover.
Paint the jar with white acrylic paint or mix gouache with PVA so that it covers the glass tightly. If the brush leaves bald spots, take a kitchen sponge and paint with light patting movements. While everything is dry, cut out patterns and drawings from beautiful napkins, separate the top layer and coat it with PVA.
Glue the drawings on the jar, again cover with glue on top and smooth it well with a brush or fingers so that there are no wrinkles and air bubbles. Then you can finish individual details, add sparkles and other decorations, draw patterns through a stencil. When you are finished, cover the jars with another layer of PVA and wait at least a day for them to completely dry out, and then you can proudly give it to mom!
